No prob.
Just a little pew pew change and broadcast isn't going to cut it as a release due to minor changes. Maybe it works as a sub release, but I'm just guessing here.
Honestly, I like the locust class most of the time. The weapons loadout is quite alright. The mines are good for triggering explosion or suicide bombing. However, I am willing to look into other robots in this robot narrative. BattleMech?
Let us know what's going on. Maybe something good will come up? Maybe?

Perhaps i can make available different versions. The original version, one with just weapons upgrades to the original MAV's, and another with new MAV's.

I say to go with just new MAVs, first. The game is technically defunct and you are the current creator of the skunkworks version. It is your creation so go ahead and make it. Of course, if you are talking about mod compatibility, it will take a while to make each set. Weapon upgrades sound like balance changes to the statistics of weapons. You can add in new weapons in the primary, secondary, and special weapons loadout. It's something to try out so I would not know just yet. I can only anticipate. The locust class I was talking about was just defending the grace of these little mines. They can work as detonators, but are very obscure. I instead prefer to use them as air dropped mines upon a target. It's a good thing I can aim down to drop them. Note that I won't be able to detect incoming seeker missiles this way! It's almost like a blitzkrieg, but it's more kamikaze that way. It would probably be better if it was a shower/flower of mine. A bunch of tossed mines would probably be more effective. It would be called, "Mine shower", or "Mine flower" (with love). I usually don't air drop mines often, only when I am close and high enough (e.g. a cliff or something of that nature). What I usually do is to fire under cover or distance. However, I jet pack while flanking or even advancing whenever possible. About new MAV replacement, I think I found some ideas from the two links below. The classes seem to be great looking designs. I am sure the pages are not spam! mwomercs.com/civil-warmwomercs.com/flea

Wow I should have been checking this more often. Looks like lots of discussion lol. Are you guys trying to update the balance of the MAVs, add new content, or both? LMK if you want to decide on a version, then try to get some games with it. I don't know how dedicated my friends would be to have to download a new version every week. I could also give some feedback, but am happy to defer to what Sling wants at this point.

Thanks for the comments guys. At the moment, I'm just adding content and trying to guage weapon balance using the bots. There will be 3 seperate releases consisting of the original version with corrected master server connect scripts, a weapon pack version using all the original MAV's, and a Skunks Ultimate version with new MAV's, weapons, and maps. The original and weapon pack versions will have one release only which will happen 8/14 and 8/15. The Ultimate version will be updated once a year after this next release. That will be available very soon. I will keep you posted. Thanks!

Splendid! I say we can do a few small tests to get going. You can't get everything done in one swoop. Might as well get the online thing running, since it's a known operation. Then, the weapons pack are to be tested, preferably in a online setting as a stress test. Then, I guess we can go with the new MAV replacements. That, of course, may need its own stress test.
I guess we can hold some (mini or large, public or private) stress test events. Beta is another word.
So... when the fixed old version becomes available, the master server should already be active? Server hosted by the company? That's pretty generous considering that they decided to go kaput on it. Anywhom, I guess we would have discussions on backup master servers, be it the company or some other acceptable service with (near) 24/7 uptime? Even with a custom 24/7 machine, it's going to cost something!

By the way, the plasma rifle projectile change suggestion can be used on newer/updated weapons. Those newer/updated weapons would be in the weapons pack. I guess some would want to retain the original version as is. Maybe the company will come back? Who knows?

Noob, I love your input, but if you don't register a pilot name on this forum, I'm going to quit responding to you. The stuff you suggest is great, but your lack of commitment with this one simple act really annoys me.

It's not a problem. I didn't think it would be required. At least I could edit my post, lol. Had to think and revise a lot per guest post.
I had hesitation on whether to register or not. It's annoying, but there's anonymous-like reasons? I also hesitate to pick 'Partisan' as an account name.

Yeah i understand, but you actually post more than anyone else here so I figured it was high time for you to be a member and not just a guest. Update on release. The original version is available here. Sorry for the delay. Had a few bugs that nobody much noticed that I took the opportunity to squash. I'm putting up a server for a few days to see if there are any issues. I'll post as to the other 2 versions as I finish them.

Just tried the game! Did you fix the turrets???
FYI:
The IRC lobby worked great.
I saw a server when I initially tried it by myself, but when Ashen joined a few hours later the server wasn't there (I assume you turned off your computer or it had an update or something, but letting you know). I was able to host for Ashen by opening the UDP 28000-28002 ports. He also connected through the Direct IP option, although I don't know if that still works while the Garage Games server is down. I recall having trouble with the Direct IP last time, the IP that worked was the one that showed up at whatsmyip.org.
I hosted the game as Spumoni. When Ashen joined my game, his name showed up as Spumoni (the name you see in the red or green box around the MAV). However, when he typed ingame it showed up as Ashen.
Other than that everything went smoothly!

I decided to post feedback/suggestions on this thread because posting in the game download thread would be inappropriate. I should have realized that D3D isn't going to cut it for advanced maps such as the cities. However, it did made the DK-# Plasma Rifle's projectile transparent. It is quite huge in radius, particularly on openGL. Maybe a updated weapon and projectile (regarding radius, or transparency) modification for the weapons or ultimate pack, will be a steady course of action. Other that potential hosting problems (which has its own thread), the potential of the inevitable ping rate is noted. That, and the lag that goes along with it. Connections may rely on the matter of physical location distance. It's something that every player must live (and/or cope) with. However, I see a substantial factor in graphics use, especially in city maps. It's obvious that better graphic utilization can lead to better performance in smooth gameplay processing. I can't say there's really a problem, since the game does try its best to run with the most minimum system requirement possible. Yet, it has to retain common hardware/software devices and their protocols. It can't be perfect given its company development timeline. I think I see a update/fix on mine tossing and cloak application to all scout type classes. I think I forgot that maybe cloaking is already present, but glad it is still there, at least for the original version. The mines looks and works pretty great! Flying by, dropping mines, with considerable aiming distance! Man, I get flaked! I also think the mine toss is a close/short range weapon competitor to the flamethrower! Maybe the flamethrower could have poison/electric/burning/thermal/radioactive (may damage nearby units within in explosion radius) damage? Additive in damage and duration per projectile hit/death? Watch out! Oh, maybe to spice up the laser weapons, there could be some ripper lasers that shoots thru units? Beware of collateral damage!

Great feedback guys. Yes I turned off the server Aqua. I noticed that when a player joined, two scripts for the AI (bots) were throwing tons of errors which really makes the server work hard. That might account for some of the lag Ribby was experiencing. I have tracked down the problem to a single integer in the game.cs and have corrected the problem. I will check the name showing as yours. I believe I know what's going on there and will fix that as well. Ribby, as to the direct X problem, like I stated before, the direct X version the game uses is over 15 years old, so it will never work very well I'm afraid. The open GL driver appears to work fine though. The plasma rifle does indeed fire a huge size projectile since this is the stock version. If you both agree you want the plasma changed to the skunk version, I can do that fairly easily. As for dropping mines on targets, I had made an actual bomb at one point. Actually, giving the scouts the grenade launcher I have on Raven and Wasp in the ultimate version might be a better choice. I could add it to the weapon pack edition if you like. Regardless, I will need to put up a fixed version for the AI and the name bug. Sorry for that, but as you know these things happen. I will let you know when I upload it and after that I will put the server back up.

Online connections to a server. We keep on going over the bumpy roads! But take it easy through! These are bumpy roads ahead. I also think that symbols (e.g. !) used as a game nick, prevents access to multiplayer interface. It's not much of an issue, but I thought maybe it should be in notice anyways.
The plasma. Let us keep the original plasma as it is in the original version, for nostalgic reasons. Unless we needed a gameplay improvement (testing required?) for a vanilla tournament, we can leave it as it is. If I have anything good to say about the plasma, it is shot very accurately! Very adhering to Federated States standard.
As for introducing a grenade launcher into the scout armaments, we're going to have very powerful glass cannons! That's for sure! At least for the weapons pack. Sure, why not? We can at least try? Although, I am getting wary of cloaking scouts launching grenades or skydiving. I find it funny that the cloak gets more opaque in a darker background. You literally have to stay put in order to avoid as much detection as possible. The use of jetpacks and smoke emissions are dead giveaways. Cloaking under those circumstances be safely done from a distance. The only exception is a desperate move, such as a fast getaway or a mid-air bombardment (possibly as final stand). By the way, will bots cloak? In original and/or ultimate version?

Also, I didn't notice until now, but there has been over 50 guests visiting within the last 24 hours. I guess it would been annoying to see that much of a number and nothing comes from it, not even guest posting. Them guests hopefully @ irc or something?

Uh, I changed the plasma. Easy to change it back, but Aqua had brought it up on the old forum that he would like to see that changed to the deeper green one. Not sure what your talking about with ingame names. Not likely to change having to have a name. As far as the Grenade launcher on scout, yeah I was going to put it in the weapon pack version if nobody minds. Concerning visitors. Most are bots. Unless they post or become members, ignore them.
