I’ve set up 2 servers:
”DHLI Server [US-East]” ”DHLI Server [US-West]”
As the names suggest there is an east and west coast server. Please test these out and let me know any performance or other issues. Also, if there are any suggestions for changes to configuration please let me know.
After everyone has had time to test these I will likely remove one depending on everyone’s preference for ping - east or west coast.

Oh please, what we need is a series of tests. First off, we need a test sample of organized assemblies/sessions. That old 90s emailing (by BCC, of course) list would be a static discussion kept in memory. However, sign up is required! IRC is another way, but you do have to idle long, way long. IRC queries can only be saved by a 24/7 IRC server/client logging method, or borrowed service. Asides maintaining custom website, I don't think I want to keep my machine running just for IRC, but it's cool. I think it would eventually need its own room due to health reasons!
That said, I said that we at least need a test event series announcement. Calendar included. We can discuss on a topic, which is also convenient. With the the tests rolling, we can get feedback on the log. I think there might be a need to submit log files per server and client? After the tests, we can organize events. We then can record on what goes on on video or file. Record may include events, teams, players, commentaries, and behind-the-scenes narrative. Using the game news section in the game program is not necessary, but would be fun with bells, whistles, and party horns. Guests can look into the event and see what's going on. With this live active demonstration going on, guests may be consumers registered users for once.
---
I'm waiting for Slingshot to fix both the AI and name bug. I guess the communication mix up doesn't really matter, but for those coordinated game plays, it might count for the smooth gaming experience?

Thanks a million for doing this Manged. When the servers show up in the server list the West shows 50 ping and the East shows 100 ping. Both pretty good but would be interesting to see how they play with other people. Do you remember the hotkey to show ping? Sling told it to me a long time ago but I forget what it was (or maybe it was a hotkey to show FPS).

Yes, thank you Manged. This is really great! Much appreciated. Ok, as they say, better late than never. You can get the version 8-21-21 here. There were so many things I kept finding, it took allot longer than anticipated to fix them all. Hopefully you will not find any issues. I ran through 12 missions online and it seemed to run very smooth. I sort of standardized the mission names, so Manged, you will want to check the mission names on your dedicated.cs with the names in the release and skunkmaps folders since some have changed. Sorry about that, but it's much neater now. I will also put up a server until you have time to update yours. Now to answer a few questions. Haven't fixed the turrets for the tanks yet. This is actually not a bug, but an exception to the rule. The inventory system is designed to replenish ALL weapons on respawn, which is what it does. By all rights, mines shouldn't replenish on scouts if they are still deployed on respawn, but they do. MGT put out a patch for this. A special script just for turrets, but since it was never incorporated into the official release, the script has gotten lost over the last 15 years. Sorry, I'm a modder not a programmer. Maybe some day someone else with scripting knowledge can figure it out. This version has ALL the scripts I have if anyone wants to try. Aqua, you mentioned the ping counter. The key combo is ctrl a. Press those 2 keys at the same time and you will be able to see the ping for every player. Also ctrl f will display your frames per second. Ribby, I like the idea of a mailing list for anyone who wants to join it. I will see if there is a plugin for that. If you guys have any other questions, comments, or issue with this release, please let me know. Thanks!

Both servers have been updated with Slingshot’s latest release (8-21-21). I will go through and check the mission names when I get a chance.
AWS is scalable in specs but the dedicated server seems to take very little to run so it’s unclear what adding additional cpu power for example might do for ping or performance.
Please post here or let me know if there are any issues with the servers.

Just tested the servers with Manged and Ribby, ping was 40-60 in the West server and 100-120 in the East server and Sling's server. All are playable, West is best for me.
Also, the turrets seemed to have fixed themselves. I can't place more than 3, and when I go back to the staging area the turrets I've placed disappear. Funny if you didn't do that on purpose, but I think it's good now.

I get a ping of 63 on west coast and 41 on east coast, so I'm good on either. That's just weird about the turrets. Maybe something to do with the servers being dedicated instead of hosted? I can only guess. Glad to here this version is working well. I wanted to get an original version out with all the cs scripts in it so anyone can make changes. The one I originally put up on Abandonware was the official version and only had the compiled dso scripts (except for scripts to fix multiplayer).

The one I originally put up on Abandonware was the official version and only had the compiled dso scripts (except for scripts to fix multiplayer). I think the ping is quite sufficient, given the pace of the mech games. Even with a lot of stuff going on, it could probably suffice under reasonable limitations. You can put archives into individual/collection archive.org item page(s). You cannot be so sure about backup copies. I was test playing with Manged and Aqualung, and they mentioned to get the hopping player base around. I mentioned probably other mech games, but there is a chance that they be lingering on the current developing DHAM/DHMC (they probably changed the name to better fit the corpo theme [aftermath is like, you know, way way post-apocalyptic/reconstruction bleak/dead) title forum or old sites with copies. You can mention to the developer about referring players back to this forum or any site related to the DHLI development. I can't believe he is still going about it, especially after nearly ten years! True tank/mech games with turret body and head, is something newish to me (it's technically the same/similar function of fps [applies to mechs that could walk/navigate sideways easily, with the exception of walking on tank thread mills]); regardless, I like this setup; it's easy and retains enough of that mech feeling/atmosphere, despite my subconscious corrective insistence regarding 'what if it is realistic' context (in the end, big robots are for the most part, science fiction). As for old sites, I will do my best to update with newer copies, mods/editions, customs, and etc. Just started with the discussion. Probably siphon fanbase back with marketing, public relations, and press release? Lots of aggregator action going on! steamcommunity.com/app/266470/discussions/

There is already a thread in the aftermath forum reffering to this game Ribby. I'm sure it needs updating though. Nobody from that forum ever bothered to check out Lore. As for further developemnt of Mechanized Corps, I think it's safe to say that MaxGaming has lost interest in it. I really never cared for it anyway. It's to slow for my taste. Lore is rather unique in that regard. It's the fastest Mech themed game I have ever played. That's one of the reasons I love it.

I don't know about you, but the developer ought to promote the development of this project. I mean, as far as I know, he still have a lingering part with it? I believe that it will still work as a resume or curriculum vitae contribution. So far, the test/skunkworks server is down so I don't know what's going on. As for old sites, I tried one, but the web master seems to be in a matter of depression. I don't know what's going on, but I guess it is kaput. He might need to transfer management if he is to retire from his duties. Anyways, I'm trying a different old site. It's more populous and maintained, given its duty to preserve old information. I didn't have a page up just yet as the project didn't qualify at the time. I will provide a notice to that forum though.

Ribby, your posts are sometimes puzzeling to me. The people who developed this game could care less about it. That's why they released all the scripts to the community. I am the only person doing any developement. As for old sites, do you mean Dark Horizons Mechanized Corps? I think that project is dead (i poked it and it does not move). As for a skunks server, i have not put one up. Wouldn't matter because the old scripts for master server are the obsolete in the current version and couldn't find a server if I did put one up. Rest assured, I am building a new FS MAV to go with the EC Cricket and will do a release with fixed master server scripts when it's done. Then I will put up a skunks server.

I guess I can't be as ambiguous, but okay. To be exact, to get to the point, I just find it deplorable to throw away all that work. Like, oh my god, how is this possible? It's a good game, with the value of worthwhile entertainment retention. It's almost like UT99, but there are things a bit lacking. Still, its core assets as multiplayer jet/hover mechs works very very well! I guess I'll just accept the fact that it is just the way it is. The old sites, I don't want to mention it for out-of-the-blue legalistic reasons. The old sites I was referring to are abandonware sites. It's a grey area where whatever the remains of a company, could pick up what was left of their former projects. Then, the status of those projects would not be abandonware. It is possibly that Max Gaming Technologies and/or GarageGames, may followup in this scenario within the (far) future. In terms of research, I guess if you were looking into the potential market audience, who congregate as a matter of behavior tendency, then it's important to know. I made contact with reloaded.org and abandonia.com. One deals with freeware, the other deals with abandonware. Most people flock to abandonia due to memory retention of past (unsupported) products. reloaded.org seems to be down under, but abandonia is at least operating at the moment. Maybe I could do more? Maybe do a showcase? I could at least try. What do you think about it?
As for the other stuff, I'll wait it out.
There's also the japanese version of abandonware sites, but how's that got to do with it? Gundam or other mech games anyone? Yes, abandonware sites may include creative NSFW content!

Can anyone host a game session server? Maybe let me know how to host one? I would like to test the linux/wine version of the game's multiplayer operation.

Hmmm, never tried it before running under wine. It will probably work but you have to open ports 28000 to 28001 on your router and point it to the machine your hosting on so that other people can find and join your game. If nobody is going to join then just host a server. It's under the server tab in the multiplayer game lobby (IRC).

So far, it works, but sometimes, or within time, wine fails to persist in operation. I don't want to make a scathing Windows remark, as it will backfire in terms of gaming support. Still, I am glad it is still working to an extent.
I think I might need a more permanent server, but who knows? It's quite the times as well so we all must bear the burden of circumstances.
